Make a system-wide impact on facilities operations and support services as the newly appointed Area Director of Support Services at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital!The Position
  • The Area Director of Support Services is responsible for overseeing all facility operations, including maintenance, construction, and critical building systems (HVAC, electrical, and plumbing), ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant environment that supports high-quality patient care. This role ensures adherence to Joint Commission standards as well as all applicable local and state regulatory requirements.
  • Reporting to the Vice President of Facilities & Support, this leader will oversee the building and contracting team.
  • This role is responsible for overseeing facility operations and maintenance across multiple off-site locations, including preventative maintenance, building repairs, and utility systems. This leader will ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local safety standards, manage capital projects such as renovations and facility upgrades, and provide financial stewardship through operating budget management and capital planning.
  • The Area Director also serves as the primary backup to the Hospital Engineering Director, providing vacation and leave coverage, overseeing the Engineering Department at the main hospital in the Hospital Engineering Director's absence, and supporting emergency management operations.
  • This position requires 24/7 availability for facility-related emergencies and readiness.
  • This is a full-time, onsite role with required travel to satellite facilities required regularly.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred; Associate’s degree may be considered.
  • Certification in Facilities Management preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare facilities required, with strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. Experience managing multi-site operations preferred.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, OSHA, and NFPA standards required, along with strong project management experience.
