  • The Director of Surgical Services will provide strategic and operational leadership for a rapidly growing Surgical Services department within a 90-bed Level III Trauma hospital, overseeing Pre-Admission Testing (PAT), Pre-Op, nine Operating Room, PACU, GI, and Sterile Processing while ensuring exceptional patient care, operational efficiency, and clinical excellence.
  • The Director will lead a high-performing multidisciplinary team of approximately 130 FTEs through three direct-report leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, professional development, and continuous improvement while strengthening the department's leadership structure through succession planning and leadership development.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between surgeons, hospital leadership, and clinical teams, building trusted relationships, promoting physician engagement, and successfully navigating organizational change while maintaining a highly collaborative, service-focused environment.
  • Drive operational excellence across nine operating rooms by leading initiatives focused on first-case on-time starts, block utilization, patient throughput, surgical scheduling, turnover times, and perioperative process improvements to support continued surgical volume growth. The primary service lines include Orthopedics, Spine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN), Urology, with additional case volume in Plastic Surgery and Neurosurgery.
  • This leader will provide financial and operational oversight through budget management, productivity planning, resource allocation, and performance monitoring while utilizing key operational metrics to improve efficiency, reduce cancellations, optimize staffing, and achieve departmental goals.
  • Partner with executive leadership to support the organization's continued expansion, including the transition to AdventHealth operations, development of additional surgical capacity, and implementation of strategic initiatives that position Surgical Services for sustained long-term growth.
  • The Director must champion quality, safety, and regulatory compliance by advancing evidence-based practices, maintaining high Sterile Processing standards, minimizing immediate-use steam sterilization, and supporting initiatives that improve patient outcomes and the overall surgical experience.
  • This leader will lead a department experiencing significant growth, performing more than 6,000 surgical procedures annually with projections exceeding 7,000 cases, and play a key leadership role in expanding perioperative services, enhancing OR efficiency, and shaping the future of Surgical Services.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree is required. 
  • Active CO RN license is required. 
  • A minimum of five years of relative experience including a minimum of two years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) [Preferred] 
Compensation Details  
  • The base salary range for this position is $117,000 to $218,000 annually. In addition, a leader may be eligible for other benefits, including but not limited to health insurance coverage, retirement benefits, and bonuses. The total compensation for the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation.
