As a valued member of the Telemetry (Tele) RN team, you will care for patients with a wide range of conditions including complex cases. This unit constantly monitors blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen level and cardiac electrical activity of patients on the unit, utilizing specialized equipment. RN’s will mainly care for patients recovering from heart conditions or cardiac surgery. The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Key Functions: -Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service. -Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. -Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. -Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and that is based on patient and family needs. -Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. -Modifies plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. -Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. -Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. -Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. -Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solution. -Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. -Monitors EMU patients 24/7 for seizure activity. -Ensures good communication with patients/family by utilizing meaningful hourly rounding, bedside shift report and whiteboards. -Works with critical care team for Advanced Care patients. -Works with hospitalists for Advanced Care patients.

Acute Intermediate Care/Progressive Care/Step-down Number of Beds – 37 beds; 10 are acuity/ventilator adaptable Patient Ratios – 1:3-4 patients; based on acuity levels may have one or two assignments of 1:2 ratio Type of equipment – ventilators, bipap, high-flow/salter NC oxygen delivery. All patients are on wall mounted cardiac monitors. End-tidal CO2 monitor may be used for specific patient requirements. Alaris IV pumps =, Vocera communication device Call Requirements No standing “on-call” requirements; rarely may be put on call if low volume Weekends: Every third weekend & holiday rotation. If call in on your scheduled weekend to work, will be required to make up that weekend.

Must have ACLS, BLS & NIHSS Would be expected to float to other levels of care including MS/Tele as needed 12 HR shifts EOW, EOH Unit Specific Details 24 Bed Unit 4D and 4B Alaris pumps, Vents, CPAP BiPap, pressors bonus items: IABP, EVD, ICP, TVP, CRRT, impella, SWAN, ECMO High Acuity, Neuro, Cardiac, postsurgical. Overflow can flex up to 36 beds. Provider coverage: Intensivist resident and hospitalist team of two mid-levels and two residents on nights. Rapid response team, a resource RN and house supervisor on 24/7. Scheduling: The first schedule is added to the end of the schedule period based on need, but we take preferences in to account and meet them the best that we can; block schedule, 3 in row, not three in a row etc. Then, they can self-schedule at the next opening.
