Retail Clinics Continue to Open

Growth in the convenient care industry is a boon for potential employees—particularly for nurse practitioners and physicians assistants who staff them—and for the people who seek primary care services close to home and often after hours.

If 2014 is any indicator, 2015 is going to be another good year for the convenient care industry. More retail clinics continue to open across the United States to meet the growing demand. According to Merchant Medicine, LLC, which tracks retail clinic and urgent care center openings and closings, 266 new retail clinics opened in 2014.

Most of the biggest players in the industry continued to expand during 2014—Minute Clinic run by CVS opened an additional 156 clinics in 2014, bringing its presence to a total of 32 states.
