On-the-Job Injuries Increasingly Common among Nurses

It’s dangerous being a nurse or nursing assistant. According to recent statistics compiled by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, nursing assistants get injured at three times the rate of construction workers. In fact, registered nurses and nursing assistants sustained more than 33,000 musculoskeletal injuries in 2013, often resulting in having to take off from work for seven or eight days. In addition to the pain and suffering to the healthcare professionals themselves, nurse injuries can be very costly to providers.
