Key Functions: -Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service. -Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. -Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. -Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and that is based on patient and family needs. -Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. -Modifies plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. -Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. -Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. -Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. -Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solution. -Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. -Monitors EMU patients 24/7 for seizure activity. -Ensures good communication with patients/family by utilizing meaningful hourly rounding, bedside shift report and whiteboards. -Works with critical care team for Advanced Care patients. -Works with hospitalists for Advanced Care patients.

Position Details ICU/PCU Float Pool This position will not accept local candidates. Dysrhythmia Exam Required (Study Guide Available) 2 years of ICU exp required. Must have ACLS, BLS & NIHSS Would be expected to float to other levels of care including MS/Tele as needed 12 HR shifts EOW, EOH Unit Specific Details 24 Bed Unit 4D and 4B Alaris pumps, Vents, CPAP BiPap, pressors bonus items: IABP, EVD, ICP, TVP, CRRT, impella, SWAN, ECMO High Acuity, Neuro, Cardiac, postsurgical. Overflow can flex up to 36 beds. Provider coverage: Intensivist resident and hospitalist team of two mid-levels and two residents on nights. Rapid response team, a resource RN and house supervisor on 24/7. Scheduling: The first schedule is added to the end of the schedule period based on need, but we take preferences in to account and meet them the best that we can; block schedule, 3 in row, not three in a row etc. Then, they can self-schedule at the next opening. Charge nurses primarily out of ratio depending on census and staffing. *All listed ratios are subject to change based on staffing availability at the facility. Ratios are never guaranteed but are what the unit typically attempts to achieve with normalized staffing.
