Level 2 Trauma Center, Regional Stroke and Stemi center IV Pumps: Types: Alaris smart pump Level of Care : Level II Trauma and Stroke Center, Emergency Care Number of Beds: 41 Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:4 Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend Type of Staff Scheduling: self scheduling Charting: Epic Scrub Color: Any Patient Experience Challenges / Focus: No space for visitors, under construction next two years FOR LPN: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Acute Care provides skilled nursing care tasks and procedures under the direction of an RN, nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, physician, or other authorized health care provider in the Inpatient Specialty Care departments. Work Environment The work is usually performed in an office setting. Occasionally, there may be exposure to the risks and hazards of work environments and conditions requiring special safety precautions and clothing. All Age Groups Any special procedure done on the unit? Triage area – responsible for nebulizers, EKG, point of care testing, PO meds, IM injections, IV starts and fluid maintenace, lab draws, foley catheter insertion Patient care delivery system (EG, Primary Care, Team Nrg): Team model Essential Functions: Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that are performed with or without reasonable accommodation. • Performs clinical assignments within scope of practice to maximize patient experience and ensure patient safety. Promotes and facilitates the compliance and understanding of Joint Commission, NYS DOH, Infection Control and all regulatory standards. •Under the direction of a provider or RN, educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources. •Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to UHS Hospitals policy. Maintains CLIA Waived Lab standards and performs CLIA Waived Lab testing and proficiency validations according to regulatory standards. Includes tri annual AAFP Lab Proficiency testing, lab quality controls and lab credentialing if required by department. •Collaborates with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
