Celebrating National Radiologic Technology Week 2025
Every November, the healthcare community takes a moment to recognize the professionals who make modern diagnostics and treatment possible. National Radiologic Technology Week® (NRTW) is that annual celebration; a time to honor the dedication, expertise, and compassion of medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals who play a vital role in patient care and health care safety.
This year, NRTW takes place from November 2–8, 2025. The dates aren't arbitrary. This weeklong celebration always includes November 8, the anniversary of Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen's groundbreaking discovery of the X-ray in 1895. That single breakthrough transformed medicine forever, and the professionals we celebrate today carry forward that legacy of innovation and care.

The 2025 Theme: "The Kaleidoscope of Radiologic Technology"
This year's theme, "The Kaleidoscope of Radiologic Technology," beautifully captures the diversity and interconnectedness of the field. Just as a kaleidoscope creates a unified image from many colorful pieces, radiologic technology brings together a wide range of specialties and procedures into a single, cohesive vision of patient care.
From diagnostic imaging to life-saving treatments, each modality and role contributes a unique perspective. Together, they form a complete picture of what it means to provide exceptional care. The theme reminds us that no single role stands alone—each one matters, and each one enhances the whole.
The Many Roles That Make Up the Kaleidoscope
Radiologic technology is far more than x-rays. It encompasses a spectrum of specialties, each requiring unique skills, training, and dedication. Here's a look at some of the key roles that make this field so vibrant:
MRI Technologists use powerful magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the body's internal structures. Their work is essential for diagnosing everything from brain injuries to joint issues.
CT Technologists operate computed tomography scanners to create cross-sectional images that help physicians detect diseases, injuries, and abnormalities with incredible precision.
Sonographers rely on ultrasound technology to visualize organs, tissues, and developing babies. Their expertise is crucial in obstetrics, cardiology, and abdominal imaging.
Nuclear Medicine Technologists administer radioactive materials to patients and use specialized cameras to capture images that reveal how organs and tissues function—not just how they look.
Radiation Therapists deliver targeted radiation treatments to cancer patients, working closely with oncology teams to provide care that's both effective and compassionate.
Interventional Radiology Techs assist in minimally invasive procedures, using imaging guidance to help physicians treat conditions without traditional surgery.
Each of these professionals brings something essential to the table. They work behind the scenes, often in high-pressure situations, ensuring patients receive accurate diagnoses and effective treatments. Their contributions are the building blocks of modern medicine.
NRTW Traveler Spotlight—Tammy M., CT Technologist
NRTW also gives us an opportunity to shout out one of our own travelers, Tammy M., who recently earned honors as September Traveler of the Month! With six years of experience as a CT Technologist and a loyal AMN Healthcare traveler, Tammy has made a lasting impact on every assignment she’s taken on. Her dedication to her work, her coworkers, and her recruiter, Tara, truly sets her apart.
Tammy has embraced every moment of her career journey. Her adventurous spirit and positive outlook are what make her such an incredible traveler—and she has some wise words for current and aspiring travelers on their own journeys.
“Stop wanting to feel comfortable. It’s an adventure! It’s okay not to know your way around town or the department—feel the fun in it. Just allow yourself a little extra time and adventure out into ‘the unknown.’ You can do the job, enjoy the people, the place, and explore our country.”
Tammy’s words are a reminder to embrace the unknown, find joy in the journey, and make the most of every opportunity. Whether it’s navigating a new town, meeting new coworkers, or exploring a new corner of the country, Tammy shows us that the magic of travel lies in the adventure.
