You will use validated, multidimensional assessment tools for pain and function, and systematically query all pain medication use, including medications taken for non-index pain, recording the reasons for use. Your attention to detail will support evidence-based decision-making about progression from trial to permanent implantation. Expectation management is another key responsibility. You will help patients understand that SCS is designed to improve pain and function but is not a cure and may not result in a completely pain-free state. You will address mood, coping strategies, and psychological factors as part of realistic expectation setting, and reinforce education at each stage of the care pathway. Beyond the trial and implantation phases, you will provide ongoing support and follow-up, ensuring continuity of care.
