C4 is equipped with negative airflow making them suitable for patients with communicable diseases. The Secure Unit is an interdisciplinary unit. Patients may be acutely, chronically, or terminally ill and are guarded on the unit on a 24×7 basis by the NYS Department of Corrections and Community and Supervision and/or Albany County law enforcement. Albany County male incarcerated individuals may also be housed on C3W if space is available. C3W is equipped with negative airflow making them suitable for patients with communicable diseases. Medical patients include oncology, HIV, renal, and pulmonary. Surgery patients include ortho, plastics, vascular, and cardiac. Any DOCCS incarcerated individual that is not in the ICU or a step-down unit is housed on C3W.
