Welcome to Emory University Hospital Midtown, formerly known as Emory Crawford Long Hospital. At Emory’s Midtown hospital, some of the world’s top specialists are advancing medicine every day. We have more than 1200 Emory Clinic and 440 private-practice physicians spanning 28 specialties. Our physicians work collaboratively to provide comprehensive care and quality outcomes for our patients and their families. Our Mission To care for patients and their families with concern not only for their illnesses, but also for their mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Our History Our history dates back to 1908, when two physicians, Dr. Edward Campbell Davis and a former student of his, Dr. Luther C. Fischer, opened the 26-bed Davis-Fischer Sanatorium on Crew Street, near present-day Turner Field. With just 26 beds, the hospital quickly outgrew its capacity and by 1911, Davis and Fischer moved the hospital to its present site, opening an 85-bed Davis-Fischer Sanatorium on Linden Avenue. In 1931, the hospital was renamed Crawford W. Long Memorial Hospital in honor of Dr. Crawford W. Long, the Georgia physician who discovered sulfuric ether for use as an anesthetic. Visitors to the hospital’s museum may see some of Dr. Long’s personal artifacts and medical memorabilia from the hospital’s early days. Emory Crawford Long Hospital was renamed “Emory University Hospital Midtown”, effective February 13, 2009. However, as part of Emory’s commitment to honor a more than 100-year history of the original name, ‘Crawford W. Long Memorial Hospital’ is retained on exterior monuments. Today, Emory University Hospital Midtown has more than 1,200 Emory Clinic and 440 private practice physicians spanning 28 specialties. Emory University Hospital Midtown physicians work collaboratively to provide comprehensive care and quality outcomes for our patients and their families. From a 26-bed sanatorium to a tertiary care facility with more than 531 beds, Emory University Hospital Midtown has a rich heritage. For more than 100 years, our full-service hospital has established a solid foundation for outstanding quality health care and medical integrity for Atlantans and the Southeast.

Miami, Florida, also attracts healthcare professionals looking for a beachside lifestyle. An Endoscopy Registered Nurse can expect salaries in the range of $65,000 to $95,000, which aligns with Honolulu’s pay scales. While Miami has a slightly lower cost of living compared to Honolulu, housing can still be expensive, particularly in desirable neighborhoods close to the ocean. The tropical climate is another similarity, featuring warm temperatures and distinct wet and dry seasons, creating an inviting atmosphere for beachgoers and outdoor enthusiasts. The melting pot of cultures offers a vibrant lifestyle filled with diverse events, nightlife, and leisure activities, paralleling the excitement found in Honolulu.

Charleston, South Carolina, while not a coastal city in the same sense, still offers a warm climate and a laid-back lifestyle reminiscent of Honolulu. Endoscopy Registered Nurses can typically earn between $60,000 and $85,000, which is competitive, especially given the lower overall cost of living in the region compared to Hawaii. The real estate market is fairly diverse, with options ranging from historic homes to modern condos, often at more reasonable prices than coastal cities. Charleston’s subtropical climate brings hot summers and mild winters, creating an appealing setting for outdoor festivals, historical tours, and a strong culinary scene, making it a vibrant place to live and work.

Tampa, Florida, is another appealing option for Endoscopy Registered Nurses seeking a lifestyle similar to Honolulu’s beachfront charm. The average salary for nursing roles here is competitive, typically falling between $65,000 and $90,000. Tampa has a more favorable cost of living than Honolulu, providing better housing options for various budgets, especially with a growing number of apartments and single-family homes. The climate is amiably warm, accompanied by pleasant coastal breezes, which makes it ideal for enjoying the outdoors, from sailing to festivals. Tampa’s lively atmosphere, encompassing diverse dining, cultural events, and proximity to beautiful beaches, can easily mirror the lifestyle and recreational options available in Hawaii.

Austin, Texas, despite being inland, offers a blend of vibrant city life and outdoor activities that could appeal to those fond of Honolulu. Endoscopy Registered Nurses can expect annual salaries in the range of $70,000 to $95,000, with a cost of living that, while increasing, still tends to be lower than that of Honolulu. Housing options in Austin are varied, including modern apartments and family homes, catering to a wide demographic. The climate can be hot and humid, providing a different but still enjoyable experience, and the city is known for its music scene, festivals, and extensive parks and lakes, creating a lively atmosphere. The unique culture and community vibe offer a kind of lifestyle that—while distinct—shares elements of the warmth and vibrancy found in Hawaii.
