SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL ROLE FUNCTIONS: · Collect pertinent data about the patient and about the procedure. · Provide information about the procedure to the patient, significant others and health care providers. · Provide the best possible diagnostic study for each patient by applying professional judgment and discretion. · Deliver patient care and service without bias based on personal attributes, nature of the disease, sex, creed, religion or socioeconomic status. · Maintain appropriate credentials and certification related to clinical practice. · Use professional judgment to perform and adapt imaging procedures for quality diagnostic interpretation. · Determine the need for and use accessory equipment when appropriate. · Use Cerner and PACS appropriately for quality patient care. · Recognize and take advantage of opportunities for educational growth and improvement in technical and problem-solving skills. · Cover for peers during vacations and at other times as needed. · Communicates clearly and concisely within the department and with other hospital departments. · Use an integrated team approach as needed. · Participate in community activities and other public education to enhance SWMH’s mission and philosophy. · Actively participate in professional societies and organizations. · All other duties as assigned by supervisor. · Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. · Interacts professionally with patient/family and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary. · Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. 4. ROLE ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS: Regulatory/Educational Requirements · High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited educational program in Radiologic Technology. Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography. Must be registered in four modalities (RT, CT, MR, Nuc, or Mammo). Current BLS/CPR certification. Supervisor Responsibilities N/A Language Skills Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred. Must be able to communicate with and provide accurate explanations and instructions about the procedure to the patient, significant others and other health care providers. Must be able to read, analyze and interpret documents necessary to provide adequate, quality patient care. Skills Basic computer knowledge. · Strong communication skills. · Excellent customer service skills. Work Environment · The job requires potential exposure to infectious waste and an assortment of chemicals and pharmaceuticals as well as foul odors. · The noise level is moderate to occasionally loud, occasional interactions with belligerent and/or aggressive patients and significant others are possible. Exposure to environmental factors including heat, cold, precipitation such as snow and rain, and wind is possible.
