This month, AMN Healthcare Allied Schools is proud to recognize Marchee as our August Traveler of the Month. A Speech Language Pathologist with two years of travel experience under her belt, Marchee brings a grounded perspective and a generous spirit to every assignment she takes on. From Clinician to Traveler: How Marchee Found Her Footing
Marchee has spent 8 years working as a Speech Language Pathologist—a role that demands both clinical expertise and genuine connection with students. SLPs working in school settings support children across a wide range of communication needs, from articulation and language development to fluency and social communication. The work is meaningful, but it also requires constant flexibility.
Two years ago, Marchee took that flexibility a step further and made the move into travel with AMN Healthcare. It's a decision that has shaped her career in ways that go well beyond geography. Traveling as an allied health professional means stepping into new schools, new teams, and new communities, sometimes with little runway. Marchee has done exactly that, and she's done it exceptionally well.

Marchee's Advice for New and Aspiring Allied Travelers

When asked what she would tell new and aspiring allied travelers just starting their journey, Marchee kept it real:
"My advice for new and aspiring allied travelers would be to give yourself grace while learning a new area, placement, or position. Find your people, be curious, ask questions, and do your best—which is all you can."
There's a lot packed into those few sentences. Here's why each piece of advice matters:
- Give yourself grace. Every new assignment comes with a learning curve. New school, new staff, new systems—it takes time to find your rhythm. Expecting perfection from day one is a fast track to burnout. Marchee's reminder to extend yourself some grace is one of the most important things a new traveler can hear.
- Find your people. Community matters, especially when you're far from home. Whether that's a fellow traveler, a colleague at your school site, or your recruiter, having people in your corner makes a real difference.
- Be curious. The best clinicians never stop learning. Approaching each assignment with genuine curiosity—about the students, the school culture, the community—leads to better outcomes and more rewarding experiences.
- Ask questions. No one expects you to know everything. Asking questions is a sign of professionalism, not weakness. It shows you care about getting it right.
- Do your best. Simple, but powerful. Your best is enough. When you show up with intention and effort, you make an impact, even when things don't go perfectly.
This advice applies whether you're stepping into your first travel contract or your fifteenth. It's the kind of wisdom that holds up.
