This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic academic leader to develop and implement strategy that advances the mission of breast medical oncology.The CandidateReporting to the Chair, Department of Hematology Oncology, the new Chief will oversee the research portfolio and all clinical activities for breast medical oncology, facilitate the development of clinical research within breast medical oncology, and enhance collaboration within a multidisciplinary environment, including a wide range of clinical, translational, and basic science programs at Fox Chase to advance the breast clinical research programs. The Chief will have resources to support the mentorship, recruitment and retention of faculty and will additionally manage financial resources. Required are a progressive record of academic accomplishment in a nationally recognized cancer program, with a demonstrated dedication to excellence in clinical, research, and educational missions, along with a record of achievement suitable for appointment as Associate Professor or Professor, and board certification in medical oncology. The ideal candidate will have expertise in therapeutics or clinical outcomes. Candidates with Basic Science research programs will be considered as well.The OrganizationThe Division of Breast Medical Oncology provides a full spectrum of care for every type and stage of breast cancer and is involved in a wide variety of clinical trials for emerging and innovative therapies for breast cancer. Fox Chase Cancer Center is a pioneering institution in cancer research, treatment, and patient care; a founding member of the NCCN, and one of only two NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the Philadelphia region. With more than 150 funded researchers, a robust immunotherapy program spanning all medical oncology, and strong programs in head and neck as well as other specialty cancers, there is significant opportunity for collaboration—particularly with the potential for expanded ties to the Temple campus. Over the past decade, the size and scope of Fox Chase Cancer Center has expanded in terms of its scientific portfolio, the number of patients served, and the diversity of its patient population.The affiliation of Fox Chase Cancer Center with Temple University, Temple University Health System, and the Lewis Katz School of Medicine began in 2012. Through this arrangement, Fox Chase Cancer Center combines the flexibility of a free-standing cancer center with the scientific and clinical power of a large academic health system. The RegionFox Chase Cancer Center is located in an attractive residential neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on the border of Bucks, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.
