Chief, Division of Breast Medical OncologyDepartment of Hematology OncologyFox Chase Cancer Center – Philadelphia, PAThe OpportunityThe Fox Chase Cancer Center has partnered with AMN Healthcare to recruit an accomplished breast medical oncologist to serve as Chief, Breast Medical Oncology. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic academic leader to develop and implement strategy that advances the mission of breast medical oncology.The CandidateReporting to the Chair, Department of Hematology Oncology, the new Chief will oversee the research portfolio and all clinical activities for breast medical oncology, facilitate the development of clinical research within breast medical oncology, and enhance collaboration within a multidisciplinary environment, including a wide range of clinical, translational, and basic science programs at Fox Chase to advance the breast clinical research programs. The Chief will have resources to support the mentorship, recruitment and retention of faculty and will additionally manage financial resources. Required are a progressive record of academic accomplishment in a nationally recognized cancer program, with a demonstrated dedication to excellence in clinical, research, and educational missions, along with a record of achievement suitable for appointment as Associate Professor or Professor, and board certification in medical oncology. The ideal candidate will have expertise in therapeutics or clinical outcomes. Candidates with Basic Science research programs will be considered as well.The OrganizationThe Division of Breast Medical Oncology provides a full spectrum of care for every type and stage of breast cancer and is involved in a wide variety of clinical trials for emerging and innovative therapies for breast cancer. Fox Chase Cancer Center is a pioneering institution in cancer research, treatment, and patient care; a founding member of the NCCN, and one of only two NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the Philadelphia region. With more than 150 funded researchers, a robust immunotherapy program spanning all medical oncology, and strong programs in head and neck as well as other specialty cancers, there is significant opportunity for collaboration—particularly with the potential for expanded ties to the Temple campus. As part of McLaren Health Care, Karmanos Cancer Institute anchors Michigan’s largest cancer research and care network, and is home to one of the nation’s most expansive clinical trials programs.The OpportunityReporting to the CEO of Karmanos Cancer Institute and the Chair of the Department of Oncology at Wayne State University School of Medicine, the GU Multidisciplinary Team Leader will lead a multidisciplinary team of 16 physician faculty and will also serve as a member of senior leadership committees, including the Scientific Leadership Council, where they will represent the Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence, Medical Executive Committee and the Clinical Leadership Council.As the Medical Director of the Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence, this leader will establish the strategic direction of the prostate cancer research program, overseeing the design of projects, and enhancing the interactions between basic and clinical research within prostate cancer. The KCI catchment area encompasses 6.7 million residents, with a richly diverse population across ethnic and socioeconomic lines—providing a unique environment for advancing health disparities research and more.The Ideal CandidateThe GU MDT Leader should have experience developing and leading high-functioning multidisciplinary teams within a cancer center as well as experience leading an externally funded program of research supported by NIH, industry, foundation, or other sources. Requirements include an MD, DO, or equivalent terminal medical degree as well as current certification in any of the oncology specialties. The OrganizationAs part of McLaren Health Care, the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute remains Michigan’s only hospital dedicated exclusively to fighting cancer and is the largest cancer research and provider network in Michigan.
