Night shift scheduling typically consists of 12-hour shifts with full-time hours and participation in a fair rotation of weekends and holidays. Patient ratios are designed to support safe, high-quality care and may vary based on acuity, with consideration for one-to-one care in active labor or higher-risk situations.
