The nurse will also participate in unit safety huddles, quality initiatives, and ongoing professional development to support best practices in obstetric and neonatal care. Night shift scheduling typically consists of 12-hour shifts with full-time hours and participation in a fair rotation of weekends and holidays. Patient ratios are designed to support safe, high-quality care and may vary based on acuity, with consideration for one-to-one care in active labor or higher-risk situations. The unit’s culture emphasizes teamwork, clear communication, and mutual support, helping night shift nurses feel well-connected and valued as integral members of the care team.
