Typical scan volumes can range widely from about 5 to 20 scans per shift, depending on ED census and acuity, allowing you to maintain a strong skill set in both CT and X-ray while adapting to changing patient needs. The imaging department utilizes GE CT scanners and GE X-ray equipment, offering you the chance to leverage and deepen your GE experience. You will be expected to operate the equipment independently, perform high-quality diagnostic imaging studies, and adhere strictly to radiation safety and infection control standards. As a key member of the night and weekend care team, you will coordinate with emergency physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to prioritize urgent imaging, support rapid diagnosis, and facilitate timely patient care. You will manage a full workflow from patient identification and screening through image acquisition, post-processing when needed, and ensuring images are transmitted correctly to PACS for radiologist interpretation. Your typical shift will involve triaging imaging requests from the Emergency Department, positioning and preparing patients for CT and X-ray exams, reviewing orders for appropriateness, and confirming necessary labs or contraindications when required. You will practice safe and compassionate patient care, explaining procedures, assisting with patient transfers, and ensuring comfort and privacy throughout the imaging experience. You will also manage documentation in the electronic medical record and radiology systems, track and complete exams, and communicate results availability to the clinical team. This is a role for a Radiology Technician who is comfortable working independently, especially during off-hours, and who thrives in an environment where every scan can make a time-sensitive difference in patient outcomes.
