Songs to Do CPR By
Have you ever thought that you wouldn’t be able to do CPR if you were called to? There is a collection of songs on Spotify, “Songs to do CPR to” playlist, that may help you. It contains such songs as “Staying Alive” by the Bee Gees, “Just Dance” by Lady Gaga, “Rock This Town” by Stray Cats, and others.
This playlist contains songs with a tempo between 100 and 120 beats per minute, the perfect pace for lifesaving chest compressions. This is part of New York-Presbyterian Hospital’s “Hands-only CPR” initiative, which seeks to raise awareness that CPR can be performed without using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Bystander CPR can help increase the chances of survival. According to the American Heart Association, fewer than 50% of people who experience cardiac arrest are assisted prior to emergency professional arrival. CPR helps pump oxygenated blood through the patient’s arteries and keeps the brain and body alive.
So instead of standing and looking, sing a song in your head and start those chest compressions (after you or someone else dials 9-1-1 of course).
