Yandei’s Travel Nursing Journey
Meet Yandei, a travel nurse whose journey is all about trying new things, growing as a person, and helping others along the way. She describes herself as an “ambivert”—someone in the middle between introvert and extrovert—but she’s never let that stop her from taking on big challenges.
From Boston to New Experiences
Yandei’s interest in nursing started when she worked with nurse care managers and saw how big an impact nurses can have. She grew up in Boston and had never lived anywhere else on her own. Moving away to start travel nursing was a big step. Leaving family and everything familiar took courage, but Yandei wanted to become more independent and learn to thrive on her own.
She says, “I had to want that independence... to learn how to flourish on my own without family around me.” That mindset pushed her to make the leap.
Building Confidence on the Road
Travel nursing helped Yandei break out of her shell. She says it made her more confident when talking to patients and improved her bedside manner. Adapting to new places, meeting new people, and figuring out life far from home all made her stronger.
The job develops skills beyond nursing, like setting up life in a new city, finding shops, and making friends—all good lessons in adaptability.
Support from AMN Healthcare
Yandei first heard about AMN Healthcare by word of mouth. After her first assignment, she saw what made them stand out. She especially appreciates how AMN supports their nurses and gives them what they need to succeed.
She explains, “AMN showed me that they care about their travelers and are willing to do their part to get us what we need. The best part of working with AMN is their relationship with different hospitals I want to work with. Because they are affiliated with these specific hospitals, it gets my foot in the door to work as a nurse there.”
Advice to Other Nurses
For Yandei, travel nursing helps her build the skills to become “a ninja in the medical field.” Each assignment helps her grow, try new things, and stay passionate about her career.
To anyone thinking about travel nursing, Yandei says: take the leap. She knows that leaving home can feel scary, but the experiences and confidence you gain are worth it.
Her story shows that traveling, adapting, and having the right support make all the difference. We celebrate Yandei this Nurses Month—she inspires others to show passion and purpose in everything they do.
Whether you’re thinking about travel nursing or are already on your way, Yandei’s story proves that stepping out and challenging yourself can lead to great things. Thanks, Yandei, for sharing your experiences and setting an example for nurses everywhere.
