Finding Home in Travel Nursing
Denise’s travel nursing journey started two decades ago, and even though she’s tried other healthcare roles, she always finds her way back.
"Being a travel nurse for over 20 years has taught me that I’m still needed in this profession," Denise says. "It’s something you can always turn to.”
Travel nursing gives her the chance to meet new people, explore new communities, and pick up new skills. Every assignment comes with its own set of challenges and experiences, and Denise embraces them all with an open heart. That willingness to grow and adapt has been key to her success.
Stepping Into the Unknown
Denise worked other nursing positions including a full time job, and she came to a point in her life when she would like to travel again.
“So I just picked up and got traveling,” she said.
Starting out wasn’t easy. Denise admits she was nervous about heading to unfamiliar places alone.
"I worried about where I’d live, where the stores and doctors were, and how I’d adjust to a brand-new workplace," she shares.
But Denise took it all in stride. She faced those fears head-on and found her rhythm in new environments that soon started to feel like home. Her independence, adaptability, and focus helped her thrive in new environments.
The Power of Support
Denise didn’t do it all on her own. A big part of her success has been having a strong support system, especially her recruiter. Over the years, she’s come to value how proactive and empathetic her recruiter is.
"What I really look for is responsiveness and understanding," Denise says. "My recruiter goes above and beyond, often providing info I didn’t even think to ask for."
That kind of support has been a game-changer for Denise, letting her focus on what matters most, her patients. Knowing someone has her back gives her the confidence to tackle every new challenge.
