About Andrea Mary Dyer, MSN, RN, CNOR
Andrea is a pediatric traveling operating room nurse currently at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine. She has been an operating room nurse for over 12 years working in numerous health care systems around the country, including several level-1 trauma facilities. Andrea is the President of AORN Chapter 2001—the State of Maine. She is on the Nominating Committee for AORN and an active member of the American Nurses Association, the International Council on Surgical Plume, and the American Pediatric Surgical Nurses Association.
Andrea is a champion for perioperative practice issues including the elimination of surgical smoke and bullying in the workplace and has presented nationally on both topics. In Oregon, she facilitated the implementation of smoke evacuation equipment at her facility and testified before the Oregon legislative bodies on Surgical Smoke Elimination. Dyer continues her work with both topics, knowing she is making a practice and safety difference for patients and practitioners everywhere.
Andrea wants to dedicate this podcast episode to her late father, who passed away two years ago, and “he was awesome.”
