The demand for rehabilitation nurses is steady here, providing a strong job market for healthcare professionals. Waterville’s community-oriented lifestyle offers various recreational activities, including hiking trails, local festivals, and art initiatives. Winter sports are popular, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to its climate, which mirrors that of New Hampshire’s—the cold winters and mild summers resonate well with those who appreciate an active lifestyle outdoors.

Leominster, Massachusetts, offers a viable alternative as well. With access to larger health systems and rehabilitation centers, registered nurses in this city can expect a slightly higher salary range than Rochester due to its proximity to Boston’s healthcare networks. The cost of living is reasonably matched, with housing being affordable relative to nearby metropolitan areas. Leominster has been revitalizing its downtown area, providing plenty of dining and entertainment options while also maintaining parks and recreation spaces for relaxation. The location provides easy access to regional hubs, and the climate is similar, featuring cold winters and warm summers, ideal for those who enjoy varied seasonal activities.

A fourth alternative is Bar Harbor, Maine. While perhaps a little more expensive in terms of housing due to its tourist appeal, it can be an attractive place for rehabilitation nurses, given the high demand for healthcare professionals in the summer months when the population swells. The cost of living remains manageable; however, housing can be more expensive. The work environment is enriched by the serene natural beauty of Acadia National Park, enabling a unique lifestyle where outdoor adventures are essentially part of daily life. The climate includes cold, snowy winters and pleasant, temperate summers, making it appealing for those who love nature and outdoor recreation.

Lastly, Concord, New Hampshire, aligns well with Rochester in many fundamental aspects. It features a similar cost of living and housing market, making it accessible for those in the healthcare profession. Rehabilitation Registered Nurses can expect comparable wages, benefiting from a healthcare sector that values their skill set. Concord has an array of cultural activities and community events that create a vibrant lifestyle, alongside parks and recreational facilities that encourage outdoor activities year-round.
