  • The Assistant Vice President, Surgical Services, supports the development and execution of operational plans that advance enterprise-wide perioperative and procedural services strategies, aligned with the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of the OU Health.
  • Reporting to the Vice President of Perioperative and Procedural Services, this leader will oversee approximately 300 FTEs across 50+ ORs.
  • This leader will provide stability to the department while focusing heavily on mentoring and coaching staff. They will also be responsible for improving key quality metrics, including employee turnover and patient experience.
  • Ideal candidates will bring extensive AVP-level experience and a proven background within an academic medical center environment. This leader must be able to effectively coach and mentor staff, think strategically, and collaborate across teams. Excellent communication skills will be critical for success in this role.
  • This is an onsite role with required travel to satellite hospitals. A hybrid work arrangement may be considered in the future.
Requirements
  • BSN required; Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or nursing required.
  • Active RN required.
  • A minimum of seven to ten years of progressive leadership experience within a surgical services environment is required. Prior academic medical center experience is preferred.

  • The OR Manager will lead the Operating Room (OR) unit and will oversee surgical services within the healthcare facility. 
  • The OR Manager will focus on stabilizing the team, building a cohesive culture, coordinating both patient care and staff services, and implementing process improvements within the OR.
  • The leader will be responsible for evaluating staff competencies, department policies, and procedures to ensure the best practices are in place while enforcing a high level of accountability throughout the department.
  • The OR Manager will assist with preparations for TJC, IDPH, and IPT regulatory surveys, and will ensure compliance in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations. 
  • Seeking a hands-on leader to establish credibility with surgeons and staff members while also assisting with mentoring and coaching staff, patient-focused culture, and building collaborative relationships within 55 FTE department size managing about 10 Operating Rooms.
  • This leader must bring excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills to optimize departmental performance while achieving both short-and-long-term goals. In addition, this leader will ideally bring extensive clinical, leadership, and high acuity experience.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Active RN license required.
  • Active BLS certification is required; ACLS, NRP, PALS, ENPC, and/or TNCC certifications are strongly preferred. 
  • A minimum of four years of clinical experience including a minimum of two years of related leadership experience is required. 
Compensation Details
  • The base salary range for this position is $102,000 to $164,000 annually. In addition, a leader may be eligible for other benefits, including but not limited to health insurance coverage, retirement benefits, and bonuses. The total compensation for the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The base salary range listed above is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

  • The Director of Surgical Services will provide oversight, direction, strategic planning, and coordination of care, ensuring safe and effective practices are followed in alignment with the hospital’s mission, vision, and goals.
  • Department oversight includes six ORs, Pre/Post-Op, PACU, Endoscopy, and the Sterile Processing Department.
  • Reporting to the AVP, Perioperative Services, this leader will oversee 3 direct reports and 118 FTEs.
  • This leader will be responsible for hiring staff for a new hospital opening, managing onboarding and training, creating and enhancing departmental policies, and participating in committee meetings to address and resolve issues.
  • The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to work across multiple sites while managing patient care and physician scheduling.
Requirements
  • BSN required; Master’s degree required (or enrolled in a graduate program with completion expected within 12 months of hire).
