Candidates must have completed a Commission on Dental Accreditation-approved oral and maxillofacial surgery residency, hold board certification, and qualify for a Texas dental license. Fellowship training in temporomandibular joint and orthognathic surgery is preferred but not required. Candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching, scholarship, complex patient care, and the dental and reconstructive aspects of the specialty.
