You will be scheduled for weekend nights, working Friday through Sunday from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. You will also participate in call approximately three times per month and work every other major holiday, providing consistent and predictable scheduling for those who prefer blocks of time off during the week. The unit primarily serves ER patients, with a smaller volume of outpatient scans. The number of scans per shift varies depending on acuity and volume but typically ranges from about 5 to 20 studies per night. You will work with GE CT and GE X-ray equipment, so prior experience with this platform will help you transition smoothly into the workflow. The environment is designed for technologists who are comfortable operating independently overnight while still collaborating closely with ER physicians, nurses, and other support staff to ensure timely and accurate imaging. Key responsibilities include performing a broad range of CT and X-ray exams for emergent and urgent patients, prioritizing cases based on clinical need, and ensuring high-quality images that support rapid diagnosis and treatment. You will apply radiation safety principles consistently, verify patient identity and exam orders, screen for contraindications (especially for contrast studies), and monitor patients before, during and after imaging procedures. You will need to be comfortable working with IV contrast, assessing patient tolerance, and communicating changes in condition quickly to the care team. This position offers the opportunity to deepen your expertise in advanced imaging and cross-sectional modalities. You will be expected to maintain competency in at least two advanced areas (such as CT, MR, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Interventional Radiography, Mammography, or Vascular), with support for obtaining additional certifications within 12 months as needed. Exposure to ER cases provides an excellent foundation for technologists who want to strengthen their skills in trauma imaging, stroke protocols, and other time-sensitive studies that significantly impact patient outcomes. The work environment emphasizes professionalism, collaboration and respect. The imaging team partners closely with ED providers and hospital staff to deliver efficient, patient-centered care. Technologists are encouraged to contribute to continuous improvement in workflow, image quality and patient safety.
