Daily tasks may involve early mobility in the ICU, gait and balance training on medical-surgical floors, stair training, transfer training, discharge planning, and patient and family education. The typical day includes collaborating in interdisciplinary rounds, prioritizing patients based on acuity and discharge needs, documenting care in the EMR, and coordinating follow-up services to ensure safe transitions of care. Patient ratios are structured to support meaningful, high-quality interventions while maintaining reasonable productivity expectations. You may work across various units including medical-surgical, telemetry, step-down, ICU, and specialty units depending on hospital needs and your experience.
