Manatee Memorial Hospital, located in Bradenton, Florida, is seeking a dynamic leader to take on the role of Director of Surgical Services!  The Position
  • The Director of Surgical Services provides 24/7 leadership and oversight for all perioperative operations, including the Operating Room, Pre-Op, PACU, and Sterile Processing. This leader is responsible for driving clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and financial performance across Surgical Services while ensuring a safe, high-quality patient experience.
  • Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this Director will lead the day-to-day operations of a dynamic surgical environment, with a strong focus on optimizing case flow, improving on time starts, reducing turnover times, and maximizing overall throughput. They will partner closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams to remove operational barriers and create a seamless, efficient perioperative experience for both patients and providers.
  • A key priority for this role will be strengthening physician partnerships and supporting service line growth. The Director will collaborate with surgical leaders to enhance block utilization, improve scheduling efficiency, and expand program offerings, while fostering strong relationships and engagement across the medical staff.
  • This leader will oversee workforce strategy and team development across Surgical Services, ensuring appropriate staffing models, strong recruitment and retention efforts, and ongoing performance management. They will build and sustain a high-performing perioperative team while promoting accountability, communication, and a positive team culture across all shifts. 
  • The Director will play a critical role in advancing quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to accreditation standards and best practices. They will lead audits, analyze performance data, and implement targeted process improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational performance.
  • Financial stewardship is a core component of this role, with responsibility for budget development, cost management, and resource optimization. The Director will monitor labor and supply expenses, manage vendor relationships, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining high standards of care.
  • This role requires a highly visible, collaborative leader who can effectively communicate across all levels of the organization. The Director will serve as a key liaison between surgical teams, hospital leadership, and support departments, helping to drive alignment, resolve challenges, and support strategic initiatives.
  • The ideal candidate is an experienced perioperative leader with a strong background in surgical operations, physician engagement, and performance improvement. They will bring a balance of operational expertise and strategic vision, with the ability to lead in a fast-paced environment while delivering measurable results.
Requirements
  • BSN is required; master’s degree is strongly preferred. 
  • Active FL and/or compact RN license is required. 
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required. 
  • A minimum of five years of practice area experience is required. 
  • A minimum of five years of supervisory experience within a related setting is required.
