Lead Emergency Services at LMH Health, a Community-Owned Health System in Lawrence, Kansas!The Position
  • The Director of the Emergency Department is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for the Emergency Department, overseeing clinical services, workflows, staffing, and resources in alignment with LMH Health's Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Director will oversee six direct reports and approximately 70 FTEs.
  • This leader's primary responsibilities include stabilizing the department by recruiting and retaining permanent staff, reducing reliance on contract labor, and fostering a positive, engaged work environment. They will play a key role in improving departmental quality, operational, and patient care metrics while serving as a strong advocate for nursing practice.
  • This individual will build trusted relationships within the department and across the organization, collaborating effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary leaders while championing nurses, supporting evidence-based practice, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care.
  • Seeking a visible and approachable leader with demonstrated experience managing a large, high-volume, and complex Emergency Department. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to mentor staff, build strong relationships across all levels of the organization, and foster a collaborative, patient-centered culture.
Requirements
  • BSN required; Master's degree in Nursing preferred or currently in progress.
  • Active Kansas RN license required, or the ability to obtain licensure prior to hire.
  • Minimum of seven years of nursing experience required, including at least five years of leadership experience and three years of departmental management experience. Director-level leadership experience in Critical Care and/or Emergency Services is required.
