Typical responsibilities include: Preparing procedure rooms, equipment, and supplies, ensuring all imaging systems and contrast injectors are functioning and calibrated Verifying patient identity, reviewing orders, and assisting with pre-procedure readiness under the direction of the radiologist and nursing staff Maintaining strict sterile technique while setting up trays and participating directly in procedures Operating fluoroscopy and angiography equipment to obtain high-quality images during vascular, neurovascular, and nonvascular interventions Applying radiation safety principles to protect patients, staff, and yourself, including appropriate use of shielding and monitoring devices Assisting with complex procedures such as angiograms, angioplasties, stent deployments, embolizations, thrombolysis, central venous access, drain placements, and image-guided biopsies Monitoring patient status in collaboration with nurses and physicians, and responding appropriately during routine and emergent situations Documenting imaging and procedural details accurately within the electronic medical record and PACS Supporting quality and safety initiatives, including adherence to protocols, participation in timeouts, and ongoing process improvement activities Working within a team-based environment that values communication, mutual support, and continuous learning The interventional department supports a range of scheduled and urgent procedures.
