A typical day will include reviewing your caseload and plan of care, coordinating with the supervising physical therapist, providing hands-on treatment sessions, and documenting patient response and progress in the EMR. Caseloads generally focus on adult and geriatric patients with conditions such as post-orthopedic surgery recovery, neurologic disorders, cardiopulmonary illnesses, general deconditioning, and functional decline. Treatments may include therapeutic exercise, gait and balance training, transfer training, functional mobility practice, endurance building, and patient and family education. The facility’s rehab team environment is designed to be collaborative and supportive. Physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and nursing staff work closely together to develop and implement individualized care plans. You will have the opportunity to participate in care conferences, coordinate discharge recommendations, and play a key role in helping patients transition safely to the next level of care or back to the community.
