The shift is structured to provide consistent daily contact time with students, teachers, and support staff, allowing you to build strong relationships and see measurable progress over the course of the assignment. Core responsibilities include providing direct speech and language therapy services to students on your caseload, both individually and in small groups. You will conduct comprehensive evaluations that may include articulation, expressive and receptive language, fluency, voice, and social communication, using both standardized assessments and informal tools. You will develop, maintain, and update the speech/language sections of IEPs, including present levels, measurable goals, service minutes, and progress monitoring plans. You will attend IEP meetings as an active member of the multidisciplinary team, sharing evaluation findings, progress updates, and recommendations with families, teachers, and administrators. Regular documentation of therapy sessions and timely completion of progress reports are essential components of this role, in line with district and regulatory requirements. The school environment emphasizes teamwork. You will collaborate closely with general and special education teachers, school psychologists, occupational and physical therapists, and other related service providers to integrate communication goals into the classroom and daily routines. You may provide consultative support to staff on strategies that support speech and language development across school settings.
