You will be part of an interdisciplinary team that may include physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, nurses and physicians. Therapists are encouraged to grow clinically, share best practices and participate in ongoing education. In this role, you can expect to manage a diverse caseload appropriate to a “Select” style PT position, which may include orthopedic, neurologic, post-surgical and general medical patients. Depending on the specific unit and setting, you may work with both inpatient and/or outpatient populations, focusing on restoring functional mobility, improving strength and endurance, and promoting safe discharge planning. Typical responsibilities include performing comprehensive evaluations, developing individualized plans of care, establishing functional goals, and delivering a full spectrum of therapeutic interventions. You will provide gait training, balance and coordination exercises, therapeutic activities, neuromuscular re-education and patient/family education. You will be responsible for documenting all care in the EMR in a timely and accurate manner and for regularly re-assessing progress, updating goals, and communicating with the wider care team. A typical day may include morning patient evaluations and treatments, interdisciplinary rounds or team meetings, mid-day documentation and care coordination, and afternoon treatment sessions. Caseload and patient ratios are designed to support meaningful one-on-one interactions while maintaining departmental efficiency. The number of beds and exact patient mix will vary by specific unit and service line; however, you can expect a balanced caseload that allows you to apply and grow a broad range of clinical skills.
