This CF-SLP contract opportunity is based in the beautiful mountain community of Ruidoso, New Mexico, serving students within a regional education cooperative that supports multiple school districts. Ruidoso is known for its scenic setting in the Sierra Blanca mountains, offering four-season outdoor recreation, a vibrant yet relaxed small-town atmosphere, and a strong sense of community. The area features nearby skiing and snowboarding at Ski Apache, hiking and camping in Lincoln National Forest, mountain biking, fishing in alpine lakes and streams, golf courses, and local shops, art, and dining. The village maintains a welcoming, family-friendly environment with a slower pace of life and easy access to nature, making it a desirable location for professionals looking to balance meaningful work with an active lifestyle. As a Clinical Fellow Speech-Language Pathologist, you will work within public schools served by the regional cooperative, providing services to students who present with a range of communication needs. Depending on the assignment, your caseload may include preschool, elementary, middle, and/or high school students. You will participate in the full scope of school-based SLP services under the guidance of an experienced supervising SLP, including screening, assessment, treatment, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. A typical day may include conducting speech and language evaluations, writing and updating IEP goals, delivering individual and small-group therapy sessions, consulting with teachers and support staff, communicating with families, and documenting services within the school’s electronic systems. You may be assigned to one primary campus or support multiple schools within a reasonable travel radius, with schedules planned to minimize unnecessary travel time. The cooperative environment allows you to work closely with special education teachers, school psychologists, occupational therapists, and other related service providers, providing a well-rounded, team-based experience during your CF year. The position is designed to offer strong support for new graduates. You can expect structured CF supervision, regular feedback, and guidance in navigating school-based procedures, compliance requirements, and best practices in pediatric speech-language pathology. This is an excellent foundation for gaining confidence in independently managing a school caseload, learning the IEP process in depth, and building skills that translate well to both school and pediatric clinical settings. Shifts generally align with regular school days and hours, Monday through Friday, with no night shifts and limited weekend expectations, supporting a healthy work-life balance. You will have the opportunity to participate in team meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as appropriate. Caseload size and specific assignments are determined in collaboration with the cooperative and school administrators, with attention to providing a manageable and educationally appropriate workload for a CF. This CF-SLP contract role is ideal for a motivated new graduate who wants to develop strong school-based experience, enjoy a scenic mountain community, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of students across rural and small-town New Mexico.
