OverviewCone Health is seeking a progressive and visionary physician leader to serve as Chair of Behavioral Health. The Chair will oversee all current programs and develop a strategic plan for growth and the future of behavioral health. This new leader will oversee clinical, educational, and research activities, ensure high-quality patient care, foster a collaborative environment, and promote the department's growth and development. Cone HealthFounded in 1953, Cone Health is a nonprofit health care network serving more than half a million people in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina. Cone Health has more than 13,000 employees and more than 700 physicians, along with 1,800 partner physicians. The health care network has more than 150 locations including five hospitals, six ambulatory care centers, three outpatient surgery centers, nine urgent care centers, one retirement community and more than 120 physician practices. These include primary and specialty care through Cone Health Medical Group and Triad HealthCare Network. Comprised within Cone Health are also an accountable care organization and a health plan.On December 1, 2024 Cone Health was the second health system acquired by Risant Health in a non-financial transaction. Risant Health was created by Kaiser Foundation Hospitals to bring together like-minded organizations, increase access to value-based care and coverage, and raise the bar for approaches that bring the best health outcomes. Risant Health’s goal is to expand and accelerate the adoption of value-based care in multipayer, multiprovider, community-based health system environments and improve the health of millions of people in communities across the country. Geisinger was the first health system to join Risant Health, in April 2024.The Position The Chair reports to the President and CEO of the Cone Health Medical Group. The Chair will also serve as the chief physician of the Behavioral Health Service Line which has accountability for the strategic development and direction of behavioral health services at Cone Health. The Chair will work in a dyad with the Behavioral Health Service Line Executive Director, and Behavioral Health Service Line Chief Nursing Officer.The Chair will be a dynamic and visionary leader with extensive experience in behavioral health, a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care, and demonstrated ability to navigate provider partnership and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.Essential to the success of this position is the ability to:• Lead through both influence and authority.• Forge collaborative yet accountable working relationships with diverse and competing stakeholders based on alignment of purpose, mutual benefit, transparency, and trust.• Empower provider team members and hold them accountable for achieving outcomes in their elements of the strategic and business roles of CHMG.• Articulate and execute the values of Cone Health throughout CHMG. The Chair of Behavioral Health will advocate for what is best for the patient in terms of service, cost, and quality. Qualifications· Eligible for license to practice as MD or DO in the state of North Carolina.· Board certification in Psychiatry· Ability to obtain a valid state medical license and DEA registration.· Minimum of 5 years (prefer 10+ years) of clinical experience in behavioral health, with progressive leadership responsibilities.The CommunityGreensboro, North Carolina, is a vibrant city located in the north-central part of the state.
