Join Salem Memorial District Hospital as their next Director of Laboratory Services! The Position
  • The Director of Laboratory Services will oversee and manage all operational aspects of the hospital’s clinical laboratory, ensuring high standards around quality, accuracy, compliance, and patient care. This leader will maintain strong CLIA readiness, uphold established policies and procedures, and provide hands-on support within a working-director model. 
  • This Director will be instrumental in facilitating both clinical and administrative functions throughout the department including testing accuracy, reporting, and compliance to ensure optimal patient care. 
  • This leader will focus on driving strategic initiatives related to positioning the lab for future success. They will evaluate the current testing menu to determine areas for improvement and increased efficiency.  
  • The Laboratory Director reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is responsible for a team of 6 FTEs, while collaborating with approximately 20+ fellow Directors and Physicians throughout the facility. In addition, the Director will develop the team and act as a mentor to elevate laboratory staff and promote a positive growth-oriented culture. 
  • Responsible for the fiscal oversight throughout the department and will optimize cost effectiveness and service quality while developing processes pertaining to cost containment. 
  • Key priorities for this leader include maintaining strong CLIA compliance, preparing for upcoming surveys, supporting team stability, strengthening a collaborative and team-oriented culture, and assessing the department’s staffing structure. 
  • The ideal candidate is a visible, engaged, and responsive leader with the ability to build strong relationships across the organization. They will work collaboratively with staff, physicians, and clinical partners to drive quality outcomes, enhance service delivery, and support the hospital’s mission. 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science, medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related biological/chemical science. 
  • Current MLS (ASCP) or equivalent national certification is required.
