They take emergency calls and participate in saving the lives of those who are having a heart attack. Cath Lab Technicians are vital team members who assist doctors during invasive cardiovascular procedures such as angioplasty, cardiac catheterization, and electrophysiology. Cath Lab Tech’s generally work in a hospital setting.Education/Requirements:
  • High School education is required, some states also require the completion of a certificate program.
  • Completion of EKG course
  • ACLS Certification is preferred but not always required.

  • High School education is required to obtain a job as a ST, but they can also obtain an optional certification to make them a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST). 
  • To become a CST, they must complete an exam through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NBSTSA).
