Typical responsibilities include: Conducting comprehensive speech and language evaluations for students referred through Child Find, special education, and general education intervention processes Participating actively in IEP and eligibility meetings as a core team member Developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs, including measurable goals and service delivery models Delivering direct and consultative services in individual and small group settings within classrooms, therapy rooms, and other school environments Collaborating closely with general and special education teachers, occupational and physical therapists, school psychologists, counselors, and administrators Supporting classroom teams with strategies for language development, social communication and articulation within the general education curriculum Maintaining timely, accurate documentation, progress reports, and compliance with all state and federal regulations Communicating regularly with families and caregivers to share progress, strategies and resources Contributing to Response to Intervention or Multi-Tiered Systems of Support as appropriate Your typical day will include a mix of direct therapy, evaluations, IEP meetings, consultations, and paperwork time. Depending on the assignment, you may work primarily in one school or travel between two or more buildings within the district. Caseloads are designed to be appropriate for a full-time school-based SLP, and you will have access to support from other district SLPs and special education leadership. The district uses electronic platforms for IEPs, scheduling and communication, and you will have access to school-based technology and materials. Therapy spaces are set up to support individual and group sessions, and you will be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to evidence-based practice and student success.
