In this day-shift MRI Technologist role, you will perform routine and advanced MRI procedures according to physician orders and departmental protocols. Typical studies include brain, spine, musculoskeletal, body, and vascular imaging, as well as pre- and post-surgical exams and follow-up studies. A typical day includes reviewing orders and patient histories, verifying safety screenings, positioning patients, selecting appropriate coils and protocols, optimizing image quality, and ensuring images and documentation are accurately sent through PACS and the EMR for radiologist interpretation. You will work closely with radiologists, technologists from other modalities, nurses, and support staff to coordinate care for outpatients, inpatients, and emergency department patients. Patient volumes and ratios are structured to prioritize quality and safety while maintaining efficient throughput. The department emphasizes MRI safety, including strict control of zones, careful screening for ferromagnetic implants and devices, and adherence to contrast administration policies.
