The position is a 13-week, full-time histology assignment with a 40-hour workweek and a start date as soon as possible. You will be working in a modern pathology laboratory environment, utilizing automated equipment and advanced technology to support accurate and timely diagnostic services. The lab handles specimens from operating rooms, procedural areas, and diagnostic services, allowing you to work closely with pathologists and other members of the care team on a variety of case types. Primary responsibilities include: Receiving and handling tissue specimens from surgeries and diagnostic procedures, ensuring proper identification and processing. Preparing tissue sections for immediate examination using rapid processing and frozen section techniques, including freezing, cutting, mounting, and staining. Operating microtomes, cryostats, and other histology instruments to produce high-quality sections for microscopic evaluation. Trimming tissue specimens into appropriate blocks and fixing tissues using solutions such as formalin in preparation for embedding and long-term preservation. Preparing slides using routine and special stains to enhance tissue detail, supporting accurate diagnosis by the pathologist. Fixing, dehydrating, and infiltrating tissue specimens with wax to preserve them for study and archival purposes. Following established quality control, safety, and regulatory standards and contributing to a culture of accuracy and reliability in the lab.
