POSITION SUMMARY – LMSW Social Worker POSITION DUTIES – Uses holistic approach in provision of medical social services to patients and their families to assist in solving or ameliorating physical, social, emotional, and/or environmental problems which retard or prevent patients from attaining or retaining optimum health. Social services are provided to people of all ages, from intra-uterine through elderly. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MSW (Master of Social Work) from an accredited school of Social Work
  • One (1) year experience in hospital or health-care setting.
  • State of Alaska license at Master’s level (LMSW) required or eligibility.
  • Valid Alaska State driver’s license is required.
  • Basic knowledge of computer use.
  • Prefer experience working in cross-cultural setting with bilingual language skills in English & Yup’ik.
  • Ability to read, comprehend & write at the college level & effectively present information in one-on-one & group situations to patients/clients, agencies, communities, & other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply/divide in all units of measure, with whole numbers, common fractions, & decimals; compute rate, ratio, percent; draw/interpret bar graphs.
  • Should be able to perform supervisory tasks when supervisor is away, work independently and in collaboration with other social worker.
