We're Pleased to Introduce you to Jennifer Larson

Freelance Writer

Jennifer Larson is a freelance writer who lives in Nashville, Tennessee. She has a bachelor's degree from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, and a master's degree in journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Jennifer began writing for AMN Healthcare when she joined the staff of the marketing and communications team in 2001 as a full-time writer for NurseZone. She quickly discovered that nurses, nursing leaders, and nurse educators are among the very best people in the world, and she enjoyed the opportunity to learn and write about their profession and how they were helping people in a myriad of ways.

During her tenure as a full-time AMN staffer in San Diego, Jennifer also wrote copy for other AMN websites and brands. When her husband’s job took them out of the area, she stayed on as a freelancer/contractor, writing for NurseZone and TravelNursing.com, among others.

As AMN Healthcare expanded its brands and its internet presence, Jennifer began also writing content for many of the brands and sites. Over the past two decades, she’s written for American Mobile, Nurse Choice, Onward Healthcare, NursesRx, Merritt Hawkins, Med Travelers, O’Grady Payton, Staff Care, and Locum Leaders. She’s written feature articles, news stories, travel nursing guides, case studies, and copy for the weekly e-newsletter Healthcare Briefings.

Jennifer enjoys writing on just about any healthcare topic, but she particularly enjoys opportunities for storytelling. She loves interviewing healthcare professionals and hearing about their passion for their careers and the experiences they’ve had while traveling. Here are a few of her recent favorites:

  • This Travel Nurse Really Takes the Cake
  • Home on the Road: An OT and Her RV
  • In-demand PTA Traveler Brings Home on the Road
  • Traveler Switches Gears during Coronavirus Crisis

Other publications that have published her work include Parade, SELF, Verywell Family, Healthgrades, Healthline, Everyday Health, Diabetic Living and others. She’s also worked as a contractor for organizations such as The Ohio State University, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and the MITRE corporation.

Jennifer is a member of the Association of Healthcare Journalists, the American Society of Journalists and Authors, the National Association of Science Writers, and the Society of Professional Journalists.

When she's not writing, Jennifer enjoys reading, running, dancing, watching baseball, and chauffeuring her two sons to all their extracurricular activities. She is also an elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Nashville and a board member for Boudreaux's Equine Rescue and Sanctuary.
