Sharp Hospital Creates Role of Chief Operating Officer
Sharp Grossmont Hospital, located in San Diego, Calif., has recently created the position of chief operating officer to oversee operations within the hospital’s patient, ancillary and clinical services. Taking on this important role is Maryann Cone, R.N. Cone has been a part of Sharp HealthCare since 1977 and served as chief nursing officer at Sharp Grossmont Hospital since 1996.
During her tenure, Cone’s dedication, leadership and vision has led to many advances in health care for San Diego County. Most recently, Cone led the charge in Sharp Grossmont Hospital’s achievement of Magnet recognition--the highest national honor awarded for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Sharp Grossmont Hospital is the largest not-for-profit, full-service acute care hospital in San Diego’s East County, serving the community for more than 50 years. The hospital is a Magnet-designated facility, recognized nationally for nursing excellence and is part of Sharp HealthCare, one of five organizations to receive the 2007 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
