Healthcare Industry Jobs Grow while Most Sectors Tread Water
Healthcare employment was the bright spot in an otherwise status quo jobs report for the month of May from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Employment in healthcare rose by 24,000 for the month. Hospitals added 7,000 jobs, while employment in ambulatory healthcare services rose by 13,000, both continuing upward trends of the last several years. Job growth in healthcare has averaged 22,000 per month so far in 2017, compared with an average monthly gain of 32,000 in 2016.
The labor problem in healthcare continues to be the shortage of healthcare professionals and others to fill job openings.
